Hello and welcome to my website! I’m Simon, a Senior Full Stack Web Developer currently working at Herd Agency Limited.

I’m passionate about learning, problem-solving, and creating effective digital solutions. My journey into development began with an early interest in gaming, which led me to pursue qualifications in Games Development at NC and HNC levels. In 2010, I continued my studies at the University of Sheffield in Computer Science and AI, where I performed well academically, particularly in C++. However, I found the course overly theoretical and decided to pivot toward a more hands-on discipline

That decision led me to Sheffield Hallam University, where I completed a degree in Web Development. This path was a better fit for my practical mindset and technical interests, and it laid the foundation for my career in software development.

Since then, I’ve worked with a range of companies — from the UK’s largest online printing provider, to a major car dealership management software firm, as well as smaller businesses like Becky Lyne’s fitness organisation.

My most significant role to date was at theworks.co.uk, where I held a mid-level position and led the in-house transition of their e-commerce platform from a third-party provider. This role challenged me to improve existing infrastructure, reduce technical debt, and deliver scalable new features. I stayed long enough to see major projects through to completion and gain valuable end-to-end product experience.
